Overview of Cape Town Collaboration
Crime & Violence is prevalent in our society, especially in previously disadvantaged communities on the Cape Flats, namely Langa, Lavender hill, Steenberg, Lotus River etc…
Due to the socio-economic conditions our people lived in under our previous government, poverty, unemployment, gutter education, lack of social amenities widely contributed to present day unfavourable conditions in which disadvantaged youth find themselves in.
Thus a concerned party of young adults have established an organisation, namely The Cape Town Collaboration which is non-racial, non-religious, non- sexist and non- governmental. A organisation of young professional adults who are well-known in their communities for their leadership, business skills, activism in skills development and musical talents are spearheading this vibrant initiative.
The purpose of instituting this organization is mainly to create a medium whereby the youth of our community will be encouraged to participate in activities such as arts, dance and music. Music will be our main conduit in attracting the youth to be part of this dynamic movement, but youth and community upliftment training through workshops, interventions, life coaching and skill development is a passion of the organisation.
Our principle objective is to empower our youth with leadership abilities and life skills. In addition we wish to instill honesty, integrity and a sense of social responsibility, thereby equipping our youth with expertise in good governance.
Furthermore we wish to rid our community of social evils such as crime, substance abuse and violence.

Past Events of Cape Town Collaboration
Cape Town Collaboration Open Day
Cape Town Collaboration hosted an Open day at the its premises in Hecules Park in 7th Avenue Retreat, on 14 March 2009.
It was a collaboration of NGO’s, NPO’s and Sports Clubs that exhibited what they are all about and what they have to offer the youth in our community as an extra mural activity.
The Open Day was sponsored by RGA. The day was a success and managed to attract many of the youth in and around our community. A few of the service providers present were Africajam, Chess for Change, Peace Cup, Origan Spurs, the Future Factory, Zamani Art and Shorin-Ji Martial Arts.

RGA Team building
Cape Town Collaboration arranged and facilitated RGA’s (Reinsurance Company of South Africa) team building day on 26 March 2009. RGA required a team building day to keep staff motivated and team orientation but wanted their team building day to be sustainable as well.
In collaboration with Stephen Road Primary and Soil for Life it was arranged that RGA and the grade 7 learners would plant
eco-gardens. The eco garden is sustainable in that soup vegetables were planted to help with the schools soup kitchen feeding scheme.
The day was met with much enthusiasm by learners and RGA staff.
Cape Town Collaborations Night of Jazz
Cape Town Collaboration’s Night of Jazz, was a fundraiser to maintain their facilities and create a budget for future youth orientated programs
The evening was jazzed up with live performances by Cape Town Collaborations band and guest band namely, Tribe and Vibez.
The Night of Jazz featured DJ’s Porche from Westend and CTC’s own DJ Reggie.
The CTC band consisted of five members who are talented, experienced and prominent within the community as musical artists.
For the Night of Jazz the band consisted on Cheryl as the vocalist, Merlyn as the drummer, Gino on the bass guitar, Francios on the keyboard and Tony as the guitarist. A composition that rocked.
The guest band, Tribe and Vibez, is a six piece band of talented musicians that are born and bred from the Cape Flats, and all of them are familiar with the entertainment industry. They are made up of Ashley Wenn and Sade van Schalkwyk as the vocalists, Heinlee Busch on the keys, Karriem Darries as the drummer, Ivan Philmon as the guitarist and Adrian Williams on bass.
Cape Town Collaboration has put a lot of planning and effort in and thanks to community support in was a great success
